Ready for COLD!

I'm laid up in bed (again) this morning. This time it's bowel cramps.
However, I shall make use of this 'down time' to update as I have not had time to the last few days.

I am very impatient for cold weather.
I'm ready to pull out my sweaters and pack up my t-shirts for good! Every morning when I get dressed I have to tell myself repeatedly not to dress too warmly!

As a testament to my eager for the cool, amidst the papers that cover my desk, each representing a task, I found myself snipping snowflakes.

I'm going to try to perfect the art of the paper snowflake before real ones begin to drift and swirl.

Throw It Up

Hmmmm... throwing up is not the best thing. In fact, it's one of the worst. However, worse than throwing up is feeling nauseous and not being able to throw up.

My Saturday consisted of waking up at 3:30 am and needing to throw up followed by an hour and a half of leaning over a bowl whispering 'please, please, please' just willing myself to jettison this evil, foreign 'bug' that was wreaking havoc in my stomach. When it did let loose, it was quite a torrent. Enough said there.

The following hours were spent alternating between sleeping and feeling slightly nauseous (all of this in addition to the sneezing and nose blowing I was already experiencing.)

By dinner time I was finally able to eat some toast dipped in broth and a bit of sorbet.
The complicated thing was, by the time my stomach was settled enough to eat, it hurt so bad from hunger. I was also dizzy from lack of sustenance. My dear boyfriend was a darling in his concerned, eager to help state... although he could not help me. He just held me while we watched For Your Eyes Only with Roger Moore (our favorite Bond. Well, him and Daniel Craig). That Greek chick is a mega hottie. AAAND one of the actors is Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof! That was exciting for me.
I was a bit perturbed that the one American in the film was an annoying little floozie.

Hallelujah this morning I am fully cured (of the stomach issues, that is ::cough! cough!::) and enjoyed a breakfast of French Toast with my mother. (We made coffee too but it was terrible so we both abstained)

Curse you 'bug' for stealing my Saturday.

Here Comes the Happy Ending

I've been laid up in bed all day blowing my nose and eating chicken & rice soup (thank you mom!!).
(and thank you hulu.com and netflix watch instantly for helping me maintain my sanity!)

Now I'm trying to muster enough sleepiness to sleep through the night to be well rested for work tomorrow.

I just watched Here Comes the Groom starring Bing Crosby, directed by good ol' Frank Capra.
I just love those black and white films where every guy ends up with the right girl, all hurt feelings are settled and fixed, and everything is buttoned up nicely when The End swirls across the screen. Makes me sure that life can be simple after all.

Another goldy that I highly recommend is You Can't Take it With You also directed by Frank Capra, starring Jimmy Stewart.

Vintage Swing Dance

Last night I went to the 21st Annual Big Band Hangar Dance at the Vintage Flying Museum.

I even got to circle downtown in a C-47. Great Experience.

I Love Breakfast

I love Breakfast.
Thats all there is to it. I like to have breakfast food any time of the day.

I've been having fun recently with pancake recipes.
This morning my mom and I enjoyed Sweet Potato Pancakes with real maple syrup and Pecan sugar-spice topping using the leftover sweet potato casserole we had with dinner on Friday.
(I made the pancakes gluten free by substituting regular flour for rice and oat flour and xanthan gum)
We had hot apple cider with cream as well. Yummers.
